The truth about Risks
I posted this poem in the last era of this site. Here it is again for you to read, ponder & comment on.
I would love youse all to share your thoughts about where this poem is true, & where maybe it is misleading….
ONLY A PERSON WHO RISKS IS FREE
by Author Unknown
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach for another is to risk involvement.
To expose your ideas, your dreams,
before a crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To believe is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken, because the
greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The people who risk nothing, do nothing,
have nothing, are nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow,
but they cannot learn, feel, change,
grow, love, live.
Chained by their attitudes they are slaves;
they have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.
Your thoughts???

I think most of this is pretty accurate except this comment
“To expose your ideas, your dreams,
before a crowd is to risk their loss.”
I think they are only lost if you let them be lost. If you put your ideas or dreams out there and open yourself up by saying “accept them or I have failed” then yeah they could be lost…or you could be like “Here’s my dreams people, accept them or not, but they’ll still be my dreams.”
